Republican House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy said he'll dismiss "progressive" Democrat  Representative Ilhan Omar from her position in the House Foreign Affairs Committee over what we called "anti-Semitic" remarks.

“We watch anti-Semitism grow, not just on our campuses, but we watched it grow In the halls of Congress,” McCarthy said at the Republican Jewish Coalition's 2022 leadership meeting in Las Vegas, according to Fox News.

“I promised you last year that as Speaker she will no longer be on Foreign Affairs, and I’m keeping that promise,” he added.

After Republicans barely secured a majority in the House, McCarthy was given approval from the GOP to be the next House Speaker in January after the congressional vote.

Omar outspoken against "Israel"

Minnesota's Omar has been outspoken against Israeli war crimes. In 2019, she proposed a resolution supporting the right to boycott "Israel".

McCarthy also slammed comments made by GOP Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene, who said last year “Vaccinated employees get a vaccination logo just like the Nazis forced Jewish people to wear a gold star.” Contrastingly, McCarthy promised Greene that he would reinstate her - after losing her status - once he becomes speaker. Greene plans on voting him in.

In May, Omar accused "Israel" of abusing human rights, saying "We sold $175 billion in weapons last year—more than anyone in the world—to some of the worst human rights abusers in the world," on Twitter.

"Here’s an idea: don’t sell arms to anyone who violates human rights," she added.

In agreement with Omar, Rep. Rashida Tlaib called "Israel" an “apartheid state” guilty of war crimes.

Last November, Omar filed legislation on Friday to block arms sales to Saudi Arabia. The file was dubbed 'the joint measure of disapproval.'

"It is simply unconscionable to sell weapons to Saudi Arabia while they continue to slaughter innocent people and starve millions in Yemen, kill and torture dissidents, and support modern-day slavery," she said.
